A thief

I have a confession to make. I am a thief. You heard it right, yes I am a thief. Now that I have successfully got your attention...na, I am not joking. Oh but I am a petty thief. I believe only a highly intellectual person, driven by creativeness, loaded with- piles and piles of boldness and courage, insane to the mundane eye can rob a bank. I remain empty of all of the virtues, so robbing a bank might be in my list in my next 100th birth. As a matter of fact I am too timid to steal a lost item even if I by chance come across it on shahara desert all by myself. I exaggerate a bit ;-)
So what is it that qualifies me as a thief? By the way, no-one has imposed that title on me. It's a self acclaimed.
Here it is :
Perfection is directly proportional to nihility. I mean, point one single perfect mundane and I will savior him or her. No-one is perfectly good or perfectly bad. The scale is always tilted.
I have been stealing something from everyone I met or meet.  Because irrespective of who that person is there is ALWAYS something good in them. And that's what I steal, I steal their goodness. It's not like they will ever run out of it. I see no harm to the victim and nor to the thief.
Oh, it's definitely not like I am burping with goodness at this point. I have so much badness in me and I am just trying to balance my scale. It is so nerve racking because my one bad act and all my goodness just puffs in the air. When I found out that I could steal the goodness in them, I couldn't hate them anymore. There is always something you can learn from the people you meet.
So if there is someone you can't tolerate at all, maybe your rude boss, backbiting neighbours, careless friends, hyper naughty kid next door. Just look beyond their  rudness, carelessness, naughtyness, irrationalness, you will find their goodness. Hold on to that goodness or maybe steal it, like me. Trust me, you can't hate that person anymore after that.
Try that and let me know how it works out with you ;-)

Obituary to teaching

You where the last thing on my mind, when I was all young and vibrant. I thought teaching was a piece of cake and any body can have that piece. I was flying high on the clouds of ego and pride.

But they say, karma is a bitch and I was dragged so reluctantly into your laps.I thought I would rather choke on the invisible leash I was tethered to.

We had a rough start. I think it was one sided rather. You were all over me and I despised you.  I felt like a lonely star forgotten in the vastness of the space, the star who had lost it's luster, the star who felt so powerless in the clutches of fate.
I thought I would let myself drift if that's what it takes. I was a sick star, forget about shining on to others.

Amazingly, in my sickness I found strength. The strength to rub off every last bit of ego and pride I was so proud of. You paved your way into my cold heart and melted away the ice. The ice which had obstructed my view and narrowed down my visibility. There was so much love you had to offer to me, so many innocent smiles, so many dumb questions and brilliant answers, so much respect which I deserved so less, so many whispered secrets, so many gentle anger,so many noisy silence,  so many cursed tears, so much hope, so much regard, I could not resist at all. I may be the star who would never shimmer but I learned to polish and make millions other sparkle.

Thank you, for opening my eyes, my mind and my heart. I now realize that you had to happen to me for my own good. What I thought as a burden was infact a gift.

Though our rendezvous ended too soon...it has taught me what it needed to. Thank you. Till we meet again ...this is my obituary to teaching.

My 16th birthday

It was my birthday on 27th April, my mind says “you are 16” but my grotesque body says “you wish”. I had a very nice birthday, everyone I knew made it really special for me. My appreciation to everyone who wished for me, prayed for me and bestowed me with priceless gifts.

I am not too sure if I should be happy that it was my birthday or to be sad for the same reason. As a kid I couldn’t wait to grow up, so every birthday was a year closer to “growing up”. But now every birthday is a reminder of impermanence or old age. Sometimes I wish why it has to be 12 months in a year, why not 13 or 14 or 24 months in a year.

Having poured out my radicle nonsense. What has to happen is inevitable, life has to go on…so here is to all those years filled with ups and downs, to all my friends and foes, to my family..old and new, to heartbreaks and silly mistakes, to skinned knees and pretty dresses, to hangover and birthday cakes, to all the wishing cards and letters, to all the success and failures, to every smiles and tears,to old good byes and new hellos, to sick leaves and holidays, to my guiding angel or the devil in me,here is to what I am today. A year older, a year wiser, a year happier, a year prettier with a tint of grey hair.

I look for more awesome birthdays to come, but I shall be forever 16,as if I care what my body says …wink!!

Here are some of my birthday pictures

Go ahead and cry .

Do you ever wonder why we come into this world “crying”? Apparently, it is the mother who has to bear the excruciating pain and the baby comes out wailing. Well of course there is always a scientific reason such as this “immediately after the baby’s birth, babies are expected to cry within 30 seconds to one minute of their lives. This crying is necessary for the baby to survive because while inside the mother’s uterus, the babies do not take breath from their lungs. It is the umbilical cord which provides them with fresh oxygen and takes away carbon dioxide from their blood stream. Once, outside their mothers’ womb, the babies need to breathe on their own….blha blha blha”
And hence they cry. As much as I am all ears into biology, I have never been much of a science geek. I am more into the lighter side which makes me think that maybe…just maybe.. we are not too eager to be put on this earth.

So you see that the very first emotion we learn to express is the art of crying. After our grand entrance or not so grand entrance, crying pretty much becomes our life time companion. As a baby we cry a lot, for instance…. (by the way I am not a mother yet), when they are hungry, cranky, sleepy, awake, sick  or just for fun. Irrespective of baby boy or baby girl, they cry their lungs out and then sleep in peace.

I am a cry baby. Crying has never been so hard. I cry when I am sad, hurt, sick, angry, anxious, happy or watching a sad movie. My faithful tears are right there, ready to swim out. Well of course I try to refrain from crying in public, which I won’t mind if I didn’t had that small ego in me.

But guess what, after I have poured out the pain in me, I am all new and ready to face the life with a smile on my face. There you go, i have said it, the secret to my bubbly character, "i am a cry baby". Bottom line, its ok to cry. After all the sun never fails to shine after a hearty rainfall. So whatever is holding you, let it go in the form of your tears.

Whoever said that crying is just for the sissy ones….well ok…go ahead…and don’t you dare cry…let’s see who will last longer.

I reckon lions cry too…yet they are the bravest.

Ode to the shiny things

I have never written an ode. All I know about an ode is that it is a dedication in appreciation to someone, something or maybe even some situation. i remember studying a poem “an ode to a skylark”. It was a beautiful poem, I can’t recollect the poet though, I reckon someone famous . Anyway so here I am writing my first ever ode to the shiny things.

Whenever you see a shiny object, does it catch your attention??? Do you pause for a moment and look at it? Of course you do, how stupid of me, I mean the strong reflection will obviously make your eye squint in irritation or in awe.  For me I have always loved that feeling, I agree with you if you think I am weird ( no hard feelings).
So when I say “shiny things”, I don’t mean all those gold and silver. Well yeah, they shine too and that’s one of the reasons why people like to flaunt their jewelries. But that’s not what I have in my mind. Oh and also remove that image of some rich celebrities with lots of bling blings, that’s totally a no no.

It’s not really a strenuous task to fathom what I am trying to unfold.   For instance , the early morning dew on a fresh lush green leaf, twinkles as it bids adieu. It shines , doesn’t it?  Have you ever looked closely into the eyes of the babies? If you do, you will see that million dollar shine. How I wish I had a box to collect my shiny things. I have always had a thing for everything that shines.

As a kid I remember trying to catch fireflies. Oh it is so beautiful when it glows in million.  There was this phase in my life, when I got obsessed with the stars. I drew stars, I had star earrings and bracelets, star keychain, star stickers, I even had a star tattoo (temporary one of course, or else my mom would scrub that of my hands till my hands fell off). I used to love lying on the ground and staring up in the sky. If you haven’t tried that, you should. It’s mesmerizing to see them shine. I can stay there for hours.  Here is another one, have you ever noticed the glow on someone’s face when they are genuinely happy. Yup, right there that’s how people shine.
Everything clean shines, everything pure shines, everything nice and kind shines, anything natural shines, beautiful souls shine.

My fetish for the shiny things, make me feel like a leprechaun. I am sure you know that they possess their own pot of gold. But I won’t mind to have my own pot of shiny things someday.  And here is for you all, whatever you are doing, rich or poor, happy or sad, free or busy, on top of the moon or in your room, try and find a shiny thing you like. I bet it will make you shine even if its just for while.
  Smile a lot....
